It is always good for an artiste to aim high in achieving laurels, both local and international and gospel diva, Gifty Osei is doing exactly so, aiming for one of the ultimate honours in world music, the Black Entertainment Television (BET)Award – and she has a plan on how to get there.

She has the strongest belief that, in this modern age of music business, one of the surest ways to reach a bigger audience, sell your brand and attain international recognition is through the power of social media.

Gifty acknowledged that in Ghana, the rate at which celebrities utilize the social media increases daily, however, majority of Ghanaian gospel musicians are nowhere to be found on social media platforms – a bane to their image and works.

She has advised her fellow gospel musicians to try as much as possible to join the new trend of promotion on social media, since there are lots of advantages in joining the ‘new world.’ She told Razz Newspaper that she has devised plans to launch her future albums on social media and as part of the rebranding; she’s going to be very active on the various social media platforms so that her fans can get up-close with her easily and on a daily routine.

“Social media is the new world. I want my music to get international recognition. I feel I can achieve that through online presence,” she said. She affirmed the assertion that most Ghanaian gospel musicians are not internet-friendly; which is affecting most of them and also affecting the Ghanaian gospel music industry adversely.

Gifty suggested that in case any gospel artiste doesn’t know much about the internet or its operation, he or she can employ a publicist, manager or someone who has knowledge about that (online) to handle that aspect of the artistes branding.

Gift also explained that she does not produce music for awards but sees awards as secondary appreciation from mankind. To her, she strongly believes her new album titled ‘Jesus Be Too Much’ which has songs like ‘Yento Nkyeaa’, ‘Mehia Wo’ and others will get audience appeal and she will hopefully win the ‘Gospel Artiste of the Year’ in the Ghana Music Awards 2015 and if possible, get a BET nomination.
