A National Democratic Congress (NDC) pressure group, the Young Democrats is urging government to be bold and investigate some leading members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for various alleged acts of corruption.

They include the NPP national chairman, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey and former communications director of the party, Nana Akomea.

They cited Mr. Lamptey’s involvement in the management of the stadium disaster donations, whilst citing Nana Akomea in the recent Ghana Youth Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA) sacndal.

The call comes on the back of recent comments by the two on how the NDC government is mismanaging the affairs of the nation.

The group says considering that the two individuals have in recent times been the harshest critics of government in relation to matters of corruption, there is the need for government to investigate them on those allegations.

The Research Director of the Young Democrats, David Kumi told Citi News, said: “Nana Akomea was in charge of GYEEDA, then NYEP. We know for a fact that he is involved in this particular thing and I think that it is not only one side that ought to be trialed.”

He also accused Mr. Lamptey of “taking the funeral donations and never made account of them…is that somebody who is not corrupt?”

Kumi claimed that the NPP chairman has lost the moral right to comment on issue of corruption.
