Ashanti Gold Players Forced To Desert Their Homes For 11 Weeks

The entire playing body of Ghana premier league side Ashanti Gold FC have been authorised to leave their homes and start an intensive camping at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium, Ghanasportsonline can confirm.

The entire team was moved to the Len Clay stadium on Tuesday where they will be housed for the remaining 11 weeks of the premier league season, Ghanasportsonline understands.

The 1997 CAF Champions League finalist have endured a torrid time in the second round of the Ghana premier league and the management of the club have instituted several measures to ensure the team return to winning ways.

The club’s board and management had earlier given an order to the players to sleep before 8:00pm and thus tasked a volunteer body to fish out for players who flout the order and be seen at night.

That measure seemed not have have worked, as the Obuasi-based side drew at home to bottom club Inter Allies and lost humiliatingly to regional rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko 4-1 in Kumasi.

The clubs’ hierarchy has thus instituted a measure that will ensure that all the players are moved from their houses and be confined at the Len Clay stadium for the rest of the season.

The decision is to ensure that the team staff and players are marked by regularity and discipline.

Ashanti Gold lie 5th on the Ghana league table with 28 points.
