The Executive Director for African Parliamentarians Network against Corruption, Daniel Batidam has described the corruption allegations made against Members of Parliament by the MP for Nadowli/Kaleo,  Alban S.K. Bagbin, as   an inconvenient truth.

“What has Mr. Bagbin said that has not been said before or that we don’t know about? What he said is just an attempt to put an issue in the public domain for possible discussion and for us all to brainstorm  as to how best we can help strengthen the country’s institutions,” he stated.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Nadowli/Kaleo, Mr Alban S.K. Bagbin, alleged that some Members of Parliament (MPs) take bribes to promote the the programs and views of some individuals and organisations.

Mr. Babgin said evidence to that effect existed and added that the practice had persisted because of the lack of  rules and ethics for lobbying in the country.

Speaking on Eyewitness News, Mr. Batidam stated that the issue at stake was not just about perception but reality, adding that Ghanaians often spend more time politicizing issues of corruption.

In that regard, he emphasized the need to develop systems to check corruption in public and private institutions.
