“Failure is never failure until you give up,” says Zimbabwean Jazz artiste, Dudu Manhenga who believes that for Africa to be largely recognized outside the African continent young people must enhance themselves and proudly tell the world who Africans really are. She opines that the “problem with Africa is not that we are poor but we have not thought of the future. We are always yesterday people”.
She is currently in Ghana doing music collaborations with Okyeame Kwame and other artistes including Efya, Black Rasta and Elivava. “This is my first time in West Africa”, she said. And “the most fun thing about it is that the songs have been so different in terms of their genres. It is been fun for me; a whole lot of levels beside the music, even just the culture; meeting people and getting the vibe in Ghana”, she elatedly expressed.
She advices Africans to keep on trying to achieve their respective goals in times of failure, because “as you mess up you are learning lessons and you are getting better and better so keep pushing, keep trying again and again until you get it right. I think we have got a generation of brilliant people that are coming up. We are clever; we have got ideas that can turn the nation around”.
Being hosted by former host of “Greetings from Abroad”, Nana Heemaaa Awindo, Dudu is a special guest artiste for a two – day concert in Kumasi. Powered by KNUST, KMA, Premiere Productions, Global Media Alliance and One Nation Entertainment, the concert is meant for the celebration of Ghana’s independence anniversary with Oseikrom icons and as well as celebrate Ghana’s Cocoa. This is on the 6th and 7th March, 2014 at the Golden Tulip Hotel and the CCB Hall of KNUST, respectively. Other supporting artistes include Efya, Okyeame Kwame, Bertha, Offie Kodjoe, and Sir Freeman.
