Aspiring National Women Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Madam Mawusi Nudekor Awity, has promised a holistic empowerment of women within the party to enable them generate income for themselves and the party as well.

According to her, the economic empowerment of the women’s wing of the party was in line with her vision to ensure that they become self-reliant in carrying out their own line of activities rather than depending on resources from the party’s National Headquarters for operations.

She observed that the northern sectors of the country in particular are blessed with a lot of raw materials, reiterating the fact that under her watch as women organizer, value would be added to these raw materials as a way of equipping the women with entrepreneurial skills for income generation for them.

Addressing women of the various constituencies in the Northern Region, the aspirant disclosed that she would consolidate the contributions of her predecessors by promoting cottage industries under her tenure.

This, she explained, would serve as a life wire for the women to cater for their families as well as contribute immensely to the growth of the party.

She underscored the significant role women play in political party activities and added that the first phase of her vision would be to train constituency women organizers in various fields under the cottage industry, for them to also train their female polling station executives.

Madam Mawusi noted that it would create more jobs for the teeming women of the party, disclosing that it’s been her long-term dream for the party’s women’s wing, and urged delegates to vote for her come April 12, for the dream to become a reality.

The aspirant disclosed that the acceptance and support for her vision was overwhelming throughout the country, but stressed that the vision could only come to fruition if she was given the opportunity to lead the women in the NPP.

Some constituency women organizers who spoke to DAILY GUIDE after the meeting, embraced the idea and hoped Madam Awity would be given the mandate to implement it, considering its significance to women empowerment economically.
