Gov’t Defends Mahama’s Reshuffle

Presidential Staffer, Dr. Michael Kpesa Whyte has defended President John Mahama’s recent Ministerial reshuffle.

The President on Monday asked all Regional Ministers to return to their home regions after serving in other regions.

In an interview on Eyewitness News, Dr. Kpesa Whyte stated that the President believes the Ministers have served well in the assigned regions.

He explained that although the Ministers originally did not serve in the home regions, they have contributed to the settling of certain pockets of conflicts in certain regions.

“In the spirit of cohesion and national integration, these Regional ministers were dispersed across different regions to set in motion, processes that will lead to either minimizing or completely dealing with these conflicts,” he said.

Dr. Kpesa Whyte added that one year on, “we can attest to the fact that we haven’t heard of these tensions anymore, we haven’t heard of these chieftaincy, religious, youth conflicts anymore.”

He also mentioned that the President has the right and the mandate to reshuffle his Ministers at will to advance the course of development of Ghana.
