Scancom Ltd (MTN Ghana), the leading telecommunications service provider in Ghana, has been lauded by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) for exceptional good citizenship and its contribution to national development in terms of tax payments.
MTN Ghana was commended during an awards ceremony held at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Accra under the theme: “Recognising Excellence in Revenue Mobilisation for Nation Building.” The event provided GRA the opportunity to pay tribute to leading taxpayers in the country for their contribution to the development of the country.
In a citation presented to MTN, the GRA stated, “You are one of those rare Ghanaian companies which craves for excellence in payment and filing of its tax obligation – a perfect taxpayer. Notwithstanding the fact that the year 2013 was a very challenging year to most businesses and tax payers in Ghana, you displayed good corporate citizenship by paying all the taxes by the due dates. Your contribution to the national economy in terms of taxes is most remarkable.”
Receiving the award on behalf of MTN, Senior Manager of Regulatory Affairs, Mrs Eleanor Adzaho-Sarpong, expressed her appreciation to the GRA and stated, “We are indeed honoured by the GRA’s recognition of MTN’s contribution to the national economy. “We believe this award and our corporate social investments are evidence of MTN’s good corporate citizenship and our focus on making significant contributions to the development of Ghana.”

In the area of social investments the MTN Ghana Foundation continues to fund sustainable social projects all over Ghana. Since 2007, the MTN Ghana Foundation has invested GHS 13 million in 89 major projects in the areas of education, health, and economic empowerment.
Hospitals, school blocks, ICT centers and job and capacity training projects funded by MTN have impacted the lives of millions of people in all 10 regions of Ghana.
