Four Nigerian Girls Retrieved From Prostitution

The Anti-Human Trafficking Desk of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) at the Elubo border has assisted to retrieve four Nigerian girls from prostitution in Cote D’ Ivoire.

Their names were however not made known.

The Deputy Superintendent of Immigration In-charge of the Desk, Mr Christian Mawuli Akpai made this known to the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Elubo in the Western Region.

He said in November last year two Nigerian girls arrived at the desk with complaint that they were escaping from a woman who sent them to Abidjan to practise prostitution against their wish.

He said the girls claimed that they were promised lucrative business in Abidan before sending them from their country and therefore needed assistance to return home.

Mr Akapi said in December 2013, Mr Sylvester Riicolins, from the Nigerian Embassy in Cote D’Ivoire also arrived at the Desk with another two young students with similar stories.

The girls aged between 24 and 28 have since been sent to their country through the Immigration headquarters, he said. He said the first girls brought an identification card of their trafficker which had been pasted at the office for identification and arrest.
