Bukom Banku/Ayittey Powers Fight To Attract 150,000 Cedis Investment

The much publicised non-title Cruiserweight fight between Braimah “Bukom Banku” Kamoko and Michael “Aryitey Powers” Okine is expected to attract capital injection of 150,000 cedis.

The figure which represents the biggest investments in a local bout recently was disclosed to the GNA Sports by the organizers and promoters of the fight – Box Office Sports Promotions.

Alex Ntiamoah head of Box Office Sports promotions told GNA Sports that the huge investment was as a result of the high profile nature of the bout and pledged his outfit’s commitment to providing boxing fans a memorable night.

According to Ntiamoah, the huge investments covers the purse of the two boxers which runs close to 60,000 cedis, hiring of the Accra Sports Stadium, provision of security at the arena, publicity and other organizational expenses.

Ntiamoah, however failed to disclose how much each boxer will take home, but indicated that the winner will not take less than 20,000 cedis.

He said the decision to make huge investments into the fight was due to the intense rivalry between the two boxers and the ability of the fight to attract a massive crowd. Ntiamoah, told the GNA Sports that he hoped to rely on gate proceeds and corporate sponsorship to recoup his investments.

The two boxers would square off at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, April 18, to determine who assumes the bragging rights in Bukom, Ghana’s home of boxing.

Powers and Banku have vowed to sell out an exciting boxing bout to Ghanaians to make up for the huge publicity that the fight has attracted.
