Ashanti Police Assures Continues Presence At KATH

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has indicated it intends to maintain its presence at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi for as long as it takes.

The command deployed its personnel to guard the hospital after the doctors and nurses demanded protection.

The medical officers withdrew their services for a number of days to demand police protection after some irate youth attacked workers at the hospital over a missing dead baby.

Speaking to Citi News, the Public Relations Officer for the Ashanti Regional Police Command, ASP Mohammed Yusuf Tanko explained that there is an arrangement to ensure the Police maintain its position at the hospital premises to guard medical personnel to effectively carry out their duties.

He mentioned that his men “will be there for as long as possible…we have security men inside the hospital itself, we have men at all the entry points and exit points and we also have our CID men who are also in there working.”

The personnel of the CID are in there to pick up any intelligence regarding the circumstances surrounding the missing dead baby.
