‘Perform Or Be Pushed Out’

Upper East Minister, Alhaji Limuna Mohammed-Muniru

THE UPPER East Regional Minister, Alhaji Limuna Mohammed-Muniru, has cautioned Municipal and District Chief Executives to work hard in order to speed up development in the region.

He advised the MCEs and DCEs to desist from arrogating themselves to powers they do not have, saying, “The tendency of saying I’m an MCE or DCE, and go to sleep, is a thing of the past. We are going to set up our monitoring activities. We will make sure we come up with key performance indicators because the President is going to assess me on my performance, and whether I will continue to be a regional minister or not, and I won’t sit down for any of you to get me sacked. So, I want to assure you that, we will monitor your work and if you are not performing, I will make a recommendation for a change,” the Minister warned.

The Regional Minister was speaking at a ceremony in Bolgatanga, where he handed over Instruments of Appointment to 15 Municipal and District Chief Executives from the Upper East Region.

Alhaji Mohammed-Muniru also added that he would not hesitate to ensure the

dismissal of non-performing MCEs and DCEs before their tenure of office elapses, adding, ‘My own continuous stay in office will depend on the performance by the Chief Executives and so I will ensure that they perform.’

The Municipal Chief Executive for Kassena-Nankana East Municipality, Dr Stanislaus Aloah Kandingi, commended the President for appointing them.

In his statement, he promised to serve the people well in order attract more people to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) before the end of their service.
