CDD Commence Commitment for Africa Project

Center for Democratic Development (CDD) has kicked starts a German government initiative dubbed, the “Commitment for Africa Project” in Ghana.

The project is aimed at building the capacity of Civil Society Actors (CSAs) in Germany and Ghana on advocacy and engagement through peer-to-peer joint projects proposed and implemented by German and Ghanaian CSAs in four thematic areas, namely; transparent public budgeting processes, political participation especially of valuable groups, governmental transparency in public payments transfers and tax justice and benefit sharing.

The project is to be jointly implemented by CDD-Ghana and deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

Out of the 25 proposals that were jointly developed by German and Ghanaian CSAs four were selected to receive the project grant of € 10000 each.

Dr. Edem Selormey, a Senior Research Fellow at CDD-Ghana, revealed that the four selected include; Omega Project Management foundation (Ghana), Campaign for Government of international unity in Africa on Empowering Vulnerable Groups to participate in budgeting processes at the local level, Global Hand on Environment Care (Ghana) and Academy for Local Democracy (German) on Empowering Women to participate to participate in Local politics.

The others are, the Regional Advisory and Information Network Systems (Ghana ) and Academy for Local Democracy (German) on Participatory School Budgeting Empowering Children for participation and Perfector of Sentiments Foundation (Ghana ) and Liquid Democracy (German) working on African Youth Democracy Web Platform; the Youth Perspective in Governance and development.

She further admonished them to make good use of the money by doing diligent work to achieve their set targets.
