The Founding President and Executive Director of IMANI Ghana, has given President John Dramani Mahama 40 percent on performance in 2013.

He believes that President Mahama has not been able to fulfill some major promises he made when he took office.

‘I would expect the president to use his State of the Nation Address today to admit to what is not working and to announce a paradigm shift for a better future,’ he suggested.

was speaking Monday on Adom FM’s ‘Burning Issues’ program with Afia Pokua which was also transmitted on Asempa FM.

President John Dramani Mahama is expected to deliver the State of the Nation Address before Parliament today. This will be the second since he took office in January 2013.

The address was originally slated for Thursday, February 20, 2014 but it was rescheduled to today.

Many Ghanaians, including Members of Parliament (MPs) have, since last week, been expressing different expectations from the address. Some believe the falling cedi should take centre stage while other believe what has become popular know as ‘GYEEDA, SADA and SUBAH’ should be main because it touches on the President’s professed commitment to fight corruption.

But said he does not expect anything different from that of 2013, except an admission to the failings of the president and an announcement of a new direction to tackling issues.

‘I don’t expect anything drastic because the budget essentially has already been presented unless he indicates that the fundamentals of the economy have been thrown out of gear.’

‘The next thing I will expect from him (President) to say is that in 2013 I promised ABCD I couldn’t deliver because of ABCD and I want a paradigm shift, if he does that will be a really bold decision.’

thinks it would be better for the president to admit that he missed his targets and call for support.
