Mpraeso Kwahu, Feb. 25, GNA-The Kwahu South District Assembly in the Eastern Region has disbursed GH¢ 7, 800.00 from the Disability Fund to 25 individuals.
Speaking at a presentation ceremony at Mpraeso the District Chief Executive, Mr. Joseph Omari, said the disbursement brought the total amount the Assembly had disbursed to more than 400 beneficiaries to GH¢109, 109.76 since 2011.
He said in 2011 the District opened a separate account for the Fund where all monies due the Fund were paid into including an approved percentage from the District Assembly Common Fund.
Mr Omari said the Assembly was leaving no stone unturned to build the capacities of people with disabilities so that they could work to cater for their needs instead of leaving them to become burdens on their relatives and loves ones.
He appealed to beneficiaries of the fund to make judicious use of the money.
Mr Omari urged persons with disabilities in the district to identify themselves with any of the associations so as to make the work of the District Management Committee easier.
He advised beneficiaries to form cooperatives within the federation to enable them enter into viable economic ventures.
‘Your chance to succeed in life and your ability to shake -off the stigmatization associated with people with disabilities is now’ he said.
