The Prosecutor, Chief Superintendent Duuti Tharukar presenting the facts of the case, said on January 11 this year, at Community 17, Lashibi between the hours of 2.30am and 4am, the house of the MP was attacked and robbed by armed robbers.

He said the robbers numbering about eight, and armed to the teeth with pump action guns and pistols, assaulted the occupants of the house including the MP and robbed them of six mobile phones, three laptops, two ipads, and a set of jewelry, a cash of GH5, 000 and $7,500.

Chief Superintendent Tharukar said the matter was reported to the Police on that same day by the complainant.

He said one of the phones was a Samsung Galaxy 4 with IME No.357139051345100 and has anti-theft software embedded in it.

He said the anti-theft software was activated and the IME No. generated a phone number 0240952807 as the number which has started using the phone on January 11, 2014 by 5am.

Chief Superintendent Tharukar stated that the phone number was traced to William Odoi and Daniel Ashitey Armaah located at La-Agyemang through frantic efforts and persistent surveillance.

He said Odoi was arrested on February 15, and the phone was retrieved from him. Upon interrogation he mentioned Anyeteye, his cousin as the person who sold the phone to him at GH800 out of which he paid GH500.

He said Police also traced Anyeteye and arrested him at first Junction Melcom together with Buabeng and Seidu when they have been lured to come for the remaining GH300.

Chief Superintendent Tharukar noted that Anyeteye upon interrogation also mentioned one Pennin as the person who gave him the phone to be sold.

He said the Police also conducted a search at the house of Anyeteye at La-Agyemang where the original housing of the phone was retrieved from his room.

He said Anyeteye further decided to lead the Police to the hide-out of Pennin and his friends at the same La-Agyemang.

Chief Superintendent Tharukar noted that when the Police arrived at the hide-out, they found out that it was a Ghetto where heavy smoking of Indian hemp goes on.

He said Pennin was not found but his cronies being Richard Mensah-Ofori, Daniel Yemo Tetteh and Daniel Ashitey Armaah were found and arrested for investigation.
