r. Kwabena Boamah, 30, a taxi driver at Beposo in the Sekyere Central District, has been robbed of his taxi by some suspected armed robbers.
The robbers also took away his driving license and Ghc210.00.
Speaking to the press, Mr. Boamah said on February 13 at about 1800 hours, two young men aged between 30 and 35 and a woman hired his Hyundai Matrix taxi with registration number AW 4663-13 from Mampong to Mamponteng.
He said on reaching Aboaso, the robbers ordered him to branch to Ankaase road near Mamponteng and in the middle of the road, they asked him to stop at gun-point, and dragged him into a nearby bush.
Mr. Boamah said the robbers tied his hands and legs, plastered his mouth with cello-tape and drove the car away. According to him, he struggled to remove the tape from his mouth and used the teeth to untie the rope from his hands and legs.
He said he was able to walk to Heman, a nearby town, but because there was darkness, he decided to roam the street where he was spotted by an Urvan bus driver and three others at about 2330 hours.
He said the occupants of the Urvan bus suspected him to be a thief and sent him to the Mamponteng Police Station where he was put in cells for three days.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Agyapong, Mamponteng District Police Commander, confirmed the story and explained that some civilians from Heman near Aboaso brought the driver to the station but when he was questioned he was unable to tell the registration number of his vehicle neither was he able to tell the type of vehicle so they charged him for loitering.
He said because it was weekend, they locked him up in cells till Sunday morning where they had Police extracts from Beposo stating that the parents had lodged a complaint that he was missing so they released him to the Beposo Police for further investigation.
