FDA Imposter Arrested

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Monday said it has arrested a 20-year-old imposter, who is currently in Police custody.

Prince Aryeko, who is believed to be posing as a staff of the FDA and extorting money from some clients was arrested with the assistance of the Police CID Narcotic Unit.

A statement copied to the GNA said, Aryeko contacted a sachet water manufacturer, threatening that his sachet water (brand name withheld) had been found to be contaminated by the FDA and should therefore pay some money otherwise his facility would be closed down and further sanctioned.

It said the manufacturer reported the issue to the FDA, which consequently informed the Police CID Narcotic Unit, who arrest him at the Accra Mall.

The FDA asked the general public, especially its clients not to pay any money to any FDA staff or persons who claim to be a staff of the Authority and should not hesitate to notify the FDA on such matters.

The FDA said all payments should be made at the offices of the Authority and should be covered by receipts.
