I Pity President Mahama – Kwesi Pratt Jnr.

“Sometimes I sit down and I pity the President. A very sincere young man, he wants to do something but I look at his team and I say to myself; my brother is in big trouble. Is this the team?” queries Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper.

Commenting on the performance of government and its Presidential appointees as well as members of the communication team, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. bemoaned the lack of alacrity and seriousness in discharging their duties.

He said on Radio Gold’s Alhaji and Alhaji programme that, as far as presentation of the list of Presidential staffers were concerned, “the list was so poorly and badly packaged”.

However, he added that those who prepared the list of the 678 presidential staffers that were presented to Parliament should have categorized the various government facilities (Flagstaff House, Peduase Lodge, Osu Castle and so on) and indicated the number of staffers at each office.

According to him, the 678 staffers are all not at the Flagstaff House.

“We had an extensive discussion about this last year and the people who prepared the list did not learn anything from that debate. They learnt absolutely nothing. The list was so badly packaged…the format that was used for the list creates panic. If you don’t do your work well, you give way for the opposition to create mischief; if they want to..” he asserted.

The renowned journalist also bemoaned the numerous Presidential advisers at the presidency and indicated that had government provided for the National Development Planning Committee; in terms of logistics, they will not need so many advisers.

“Why so many advisers? If the National Development Planning Committee were fully equipped, you will not need all these policy advisers; advisers on fish, advisers on Tuo Zaafo and so on…you don’t need them,” he screamed.
