National Security Investigates GHC82,000,00 Chips Compound

The National Security is investigating a complex case involving a former MP and the current legislator of Ejura constituency in relation to a chips compound project at Kyenkyenkura, a community within the constituency.

The two honorable men: Mohammed Isifu Pangabu (former) and Sualisu Bamba (current) are said to have spent GH82,000,00 on the chips compound which was still not completed.

Facts of the case

Somewhere in 2010, the municipal health directorate decided to award a contract of GH72,000 from the MP common fund to build a chips compound or health center for the people Kyenkyenkura. The contract was awarded to Hon. Pangabu who was then the MP for the area.

However,it appeared the former legislator only put up a temporal structure and totally abandoned the project which increased the plight of the inhabitants.

In 2012, during the lamentations and hue and cry from the people, the same project was awarded to the another contractor to a tune of GH12,000. This time the contract was awarded to the NPP constituency Chairman, Hon. Abagna.

Investigation

The national security is said to have invited the former MP including some members of the municipal health directorate.

The current MP Hon. Mohammed Sualisu Bamba also rose the matter on the floor of parliament which the Public Accounts committee has described as ‘criminal act’ and has promised to summon the former MP and his alleged accomplices.
