It Was a ‘Mistake’ To Sign Essien – Ex-Milan Player Boban

The ex-player at the San Siro claims the struggling Serie A side “shouldn’t have signed” the Ghanaian because “they don’t need him” in this dire times.

Former AC Milan player Zvonimir Boban has taken a swipe at the current management of the Rossoneri, saying they made ‘a mistake’ by signing Michael Essien.

He said the Ghana international has lost his fine form at Chelsea and there was no need to bring him to the San Siro.

Essien had a torrid time this season at the Stamford Bridge, spending most part of the term warming the bench upon a loan return from Read Madrid with less than 10 Premier League appearances and no Champions League show.

“The signings of Essien and Taarabt? I don’t know Taarabt,” Boban told Sulia.com. “Milan shouldn’t have signed Essien – it was mistake.”

“They don’t need him. He hasn’t played much recently and there is a reason for that. He is nowhere near the first Essien we saw at Chelsea.”

Essien made his Milan debut last weekend in a 3-1 loss to Napoli in the Serie A.
