Standard Liege Interested In Ghana Defender Rashid Sumaila

Standard Liege have enquired about the services of Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The Belgian giants have written to Mamelodi Sundowns to commence negotiations towards the signing of the 21-year-old.

Sumaila’s consistent displays in the South African top flight has not gone unnoticed with clubs in Russia also said to be interested.

The Ghana international will however be unable to move to an European club until the transfer window opens at the end of the season.

The versatile defender can however sign a pre-contract agreement once Sundowns negotiates and agrees to a sale.

Sumaila only joined Sundowns at the beginning of the season after a successful one-year loan spell with Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko but could be on the move again this summer when the transfer window opens.

His impressive performances in the South African league earned him his debut with the Ghana national team during the 2014 World Cup playoffs and could be named in the Black Stars squad for the tournament in Brazil.
