Patronise govt-approved spray for cocoa farms — Nana Kwaku Duah

The Offinso Municipal Cocoa Chief Farmer, Nana Kwaku Duah Agyeman, has advised members of the Offinso branch of the Ghana Cocoa, Coffee and Shea Nut Farmers Association and cocoa farmers in general to patronise the government-approved spray to improve yield.

He said the spray, which has been accepted by the national body of the association, was powerful enough to control diseases and pests on cocoa farms. The chief cocoa farmer was speaking in an interview with the Daily Graphic after the first general meeting held by the Offinso branch of the association at Maame in the Offinso Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

He further advised cocoa farmers to be wary of the chemicals they used since most sellers had faked the “Not For Sale” as contained on the government-approved spray to deceive farmers.

He urged members of the association and cocoa farmers in the area to purchase the approved chemical at the input stores of the association at Offinso.

He also advised cocoa farmers to take the neccessary security measures to protect their farms from bush fires. Mr Agyeman expressed gratitude to the National Chief Farmer, Alhaji Alhassan Bukari, for assisting the Offinso branch of the association with cocoa weighing scales, a testing stone, a solar torch and a mosquito net to help improve cocoa production in the Offinso area. He praised the government for donating to the association 80 boxes of Akate Master agrochemicals to fight cocoa diseases.
