Naa Torshie Hot As NPP Guru Plans To Unseat Her

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Tema West constituency in the Greater Accra Region hopes of returning to parliament in 2016 is seriously shaking as a party guru in her constituency is lacing his boots to unseat her.

Former President of the Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders (GIFF,) Mr. Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, a source close to him has indicated his readiness to offer Irene Naa Torshie Addo the necessary challenge which result the paper’s sources reveal can lead to the sealing of the parliamentary career of the vociferous politician.

A lead campaigner for Mr. Ahenkorah, Mr. Kwasi Poku disclosed to newsmen at a get-together organised for executives of the party in the constituency that the astute businessman thinks the time is ripe for the party to have someone who could bring unity into the party in the constituency.

Hon. Torshie Addo, he indicated has brought division into the party hence necessitating former Majority Leader and NPP MP for the constituency, Mr. Abraham Osei-Aidoo, to go independent in the 2012 elections.

A situation which he noted could have made the NPP lost the seat to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, Hon. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo.

Mr. Poku further submitted that the divisive nature of the MP has continuously been making the NPP lose votes in the Tema West constituency.

Delegates at the event were also full of praise for Mr. Ahenkorah, whom they claimed was someone who could unify the party in the constituency and widen the vote difference between the NPP and the NDC.

According to Mr. Poku, who is also the Assembly member for the Akro Electoral Area, Hon. Torshie Addo and her supporters were invited to the event but she refused to attend with the excuse that ‘the group had no locus’.

However, Mr. Poku said about 650 delegates in the constituency attended with only 15 being absent, an indication that it was a successful event.
