Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., has bemoaned government’s inability to use the resources we have to develop the country.
Government has been receiving a deluge of suggestions on how to put the economy back on its feet.
Paramount among those recommendations is for government to increase productivity and decrease imports. Many have wondered if those suggestions are being considered or they are falling on deaf ears.
Senior journalist, Kwesi Pratt is one of the social commentators who has been articulating numerous ways the current administration can use to better the lives of Ghanaians.
Whether or not government is listening, it is evident that the economy continues to decline.
Contributing to panel discussions on Tuesday’s edition of ‘Kokrokoo’ Kwesi Pratt disclosed that despite the high level of manpower in the country, ‘government still imports labour from foreign countries’. Many have attributed the fall of the cedi to the high level of importation especially goods that can be produced in the country. It is on this backdrop that Kwesi Pratt finds it surprising that the country also imports labour.
The Insight newspaper Managing Editor, who keeps hammering on various platforms that it is disappointing for a country which is considered as the gate way to Africa to be importing pure water, nkontomire, matches added:
“The open and blatant discrimination against Ghanaians in the employment market has to stop. The country has labour; even unskilled labourers but government still goes for labour from other countries. How can you solve your unemployment problem when even ordinary; unskilled labour you are importing…what kind of a society are we building?” he queried.
