Dauda’s Debut Delayed Due To Floodlights Failure

Pirates were set to play their 14th game of the season and complete the Q1 fixtures against Free State Stars, but they will have to wait for a new date from the PSL

The PSL fixture between Free State Stars and Orlando Pirates was called off due to floodlights failure at the Charles Mopeli Stadium.

The two teams were set to face off on Wednesday evening, but it was confirmed that only one floodlight is working while the other three are completely not operational.

Pirates revealed on their Twitter handle that the decision to call off the game was made after a meeting with the Match Commissioner, Stadium Management, the PSL and the two clubs.

“A meeting was convened by the Match Commissioner with Stadium Management, PSL & the two clubs ahead of the kickoff. The floodlights at the Charles Mopeli Stadium failed to be fully operational at the required time ahead of kick-off,” revealed Pirates on their official Twitter account.

Pirates went to the Free State without two of their regulars in goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa and Lehlogonolo Masalesa who are both nursing injuries with Ghana’s first-choice keeper Fatau Dauda set to make his full debut.

The new date for this fixture is yet to be announced.
