Some members of the Muslim community where parents of a dead baby reside besieged the hospital and beat up hospital staff including Nurses.

They are Osman Mohammed 25, Sadat Mohammed 30, and Ahmed Mohammed Baba 38 were among some 20 angry youth protesting the missing bodies of three babies..

He said the hospital is calm and everyone is performing his/her duty.

“The nurses who were on duty were assaulted by the Muslim youth over the dead baby. We are investigating whether the child is dead or not. If the child is dead, where is the body, if the child is not dead, where is the child and that is what we are investigating” Yusif Tanko stated.

Nurses who were attacked in the process have served notice of a strike following the incident.

Authorities at KATH are expected to submit a formal report to the Health Ministry on the suspected baby theft case.

The family of the dead baby is threatening to sue the hospital if the body of the baby isn’t found. The family are demanding from the hospital the body for Islamic burial.

Members of the Zongo community in Kumasi are set to hit the street if an investigation into the case doesn’t yield any fruitful result.

Meanwhile, Public Relations Officer of KATH, Kwame Frimpong said the hospital authorities are complying with the directives from the police regional command.
