Manhyia Unhappy With Rev Owusu Bempeh’s Conduct

OTUMFUO’S NSUMANKWAHENE, Baffour Asabre Kogyawoasu Ababio has launched a blistering attack on the leader of the Glorious Word Ministry International, Rev. Owusu Bempah, as the originator of the recent rumours of the death of His Royal Majesty, the Asantehene.

Rev. Owusu Bempah has admitted his involvement in the issue and told listeners of Okay FM that he received a message on December 31, 2013, that if he doesn’t lead a crusade to pray on behalf of the Asantehene, he might join his ancestors and advised Ghanaians not to regard him as a dooms day prophet, but rather someone who was simply doing the work of God.

But the Nsumankwahene told The Chronicle in an interview at his Ashanti New-Town residence in Kumasi last Friday that Owusu Bempah needs a psychiatrist to examine him.

The chief priest said the Man of God’s utterances is enough to tell his state of mind, for equating the Overlord of Ashanti Kingdom to a sheep, in his so called trance.

The Nsumankwahene has cautioned Rev. Owusu Bempah, who he described as uncultured, not to hide behind freedom of speech and pass unwarranted comments, and questioned what stopped him (Rev. Owusu Bempah) from consulting Manhyia about his manifestation.

Baffour Asabre Kogyawoasu further warned Rev. Owusu Bempah to be careful with his utterances.

He said: ‘We love our King. He is Our God,’ adding the Asantehene is a divine person and that Almighty God, gods, rivers and other spirits intercede and protect the King.

He has, therefore, called on Ashantis to rise in arms against those who have resorted to denigrating the image of the Ashanti King.

‘It is my duty to tell the Chiefs and the youth of Ashanti to rise up to accomplish the task of defending our King’, he said, adding ‘it is time we stamp our authority and not allow anyone to take us for granted. No one has the right to begrudge Ashanti’, he noted.

He affirmed his resolve to use his authority to defend Otumfuo, in his capacity as the Nsumankwahene and assured that he was ready to face anyone who undermines Otumfuo.

The Nsumankwahene explained that Otumfuo Osei Tutu has done a lot in the building of Ashanti Kingdom and urged chiefs to rally behind Manyhia and the King.

Being a chief is not about dressing and dancing in a palanquin at funerals and durbars, but being brave to protect cultural values and being loyal to the head of the Asante Kingdom.

Meanwhile, GNA also reports that Apostle Dr. Isaac Owusu Bempah, General Overseer of the Glorious Word Power Ministry International has denied that he was the source of the rumour of the death of the Asantehene Otumfou Osei Tutu II.

‘Being an Asante and the Asantehene my chief and Grandfather, I can’t lie about him.’

The rumour of the death of the Otumfuo two weeks ago was attributed to the prophecies of Apostle Bempah, during his 31st December All Night service.

At a press conference in Accra on Sunday , Apostle Bempah said his prophecy was not only relating to the Otumfuo, and that “It was generally about the deaths of ‘prominent people in the country.”

He called on Ghanaians to continue praying for the leaders of the country to avert their death. Apostle Bempah said he respects everybody in the country and does not fear to say the truth and the prophecies revealed to him by God.

‘I receive revelations and its solutions from God every year and then I reveal it and call for prayers.’  Apostles Bempah appealed to the media to be circumspect in their reportage.
