No election petition in 2016 with me as NPP Chairman – Paul Afoko

An aspiring National Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko is promising a-one-touch victory for the party in the 2016 general elections.

He said the NPP needs a dynamic person, who is hungry for victory to lead the party back to power to salvage Ghanaians from the unbridled hardship under the Mahama-led administration.

“NPP has two choices: opposition and power, so if they want the latter then Paul Afoko is the one to lead the party”.

Mr. Afoko was speaking in an exclusive interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday, after filing his nomination forms at the NPP headquarter in Accra.

The business mogul also a member of the NPP National Council bemoaned what he described as the traditional style of politicking in the party and called for a more radical approach ahead of the 2016 elections.

He was convinced that the old ways of doing things in the party was a contributory factor to its eight months challenge against the 2012 election results by the then flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo and two other members of the party at the Supreme Court.

Mr. Afoko therefore promised that litigation after an election will not happen with him as Chairman of NPP.

The National Council member also underscored the need for unity in the party since according to him, it is key for a landslide victory in 2016.

“If we use the new plan for power with Paul Afoko as Chairman, I’m very clear in my heart that it [election petition] won’t happen. We are winning outright”, he stressed.

Paul Afoko expressed joy about the choice of Tamale for the NPP’s upcoming delegates’ congress in April 12 because “we are going to unite the spirit of our ancestors for spiritual renewal for 2016 elections”.
