A six-year-old boy, Kofi, got injured when fire destroyed two single room self-contained apartments at Suhum Ayekotse on Sunday afternoon. Kofi has been admitted at the Suhum Government Hospital for treatment.
The victims living in the two apartments could not salvage any belonging, as the fire destroyed all their property.
, the victim whose son was injured by the fire, could not hold back her tears when briefing DAILY GUIDE about the incident. She said she was outside cooking, when she heard her son crying and saw smoke emanating from the room.
‘My brother, I don’t know what caused the fire outbreak. All my things in the room got burnt and my six-year-old son, Kofi, got injured,’ she lamented.
She reiterated that ‘all my things got burnt into aches, including my debtors’ money, GH¢2000. Please plead on our behalf for assistance because all our hope is gone.’
Another victim, Diana Ayeko told the paper, ‘I just returned from town and realized that the fire has destroyed everything in my room. My children’s books, my TV, deck, mattress, bags, shoes and clothes all got burnt; I couldn’t pick anything except a Bible which did not get burned.’
The fire outbreak also penetrated six single rooms in the area before Fire Service personnel who hurried to the place were able to stop it.
The neighbours who witnessed the incident were advised to take precautionary measures against fire outbreaks.
