Kwabena Agyepong Leads Sir John Up North

With four persons vying for the NPP General Secretary position, Kwabena Agyepong seems to be in the lead in the three northern regions.

Consistent polls show that a significant majority of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters in the three regions of the north want Kwabena Agyepong to be the party’s next General Secretary.

Recent polls conducted by a civil society organization known as Strepsil Consults, found that about 50 percent of NPP supporters in the three regions of the north wanted Kwabena Agyepong to replace Mr. Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie who is seeking re-election.

About 30 percent of them said Mr. Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie should be retained.

Some of them argued that Kwabena Agyepong’s pedigree in Ghanaian politics was immeasurable.

They measured him by his public discourse in the media and his technical know-how on electoral matters especially in the Electoral Commission’s strong room.

Mr. Kwabena Agyepong’s popularity amplified when the NPP National Council endorsed his proposal to hold the party’s upcoming national delegates conference in Tamale.

Kwabena Agyepong who is on a campaign tour across the nation has a simple message of “Let us unite and build our party structures for victory in 2016.”

Four persons including Kwabena Agyepong, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, Retired Captain Nkrabea Effa Dartey and Lawyer Yaw Boabeng Asamoah are in the NPP General Secretary race.
