On-loan Abdul Majeed Waris was at it again Saturday evening in the French Ligue 1, the Black Stars goal poacher’s 88 th minute strike enough to give Valenciennes all three much needed points against Nice which keeps their survival hopes alive.

Waris went three Ligue 1 games without a goal since scoring on his debut for Valenciennes against Bastia back on January 11 but when his moment came against Nice, the Right to Dream Academy graduate was the chief executioner, setting up his side’s equalizer before going on to net the winner.

Valenciennes who nevertheless still remain in the relegation zone, fell behind to Nice after 21 minutes but Waris was quick to assist Malian Tongo Doumbia to equalize five minutes later. Waris was not done yet however, the former Sweden league goalking and MVP striking home his second goal in France with two minutes of regulation time left to give his side victory.

The 3 points moved Valenciennes’ build up to 21 from 24 games in 18 th and the last relegation spot, 2 behind Jonathan Mensah’s Evian TG who are 17 th . Mensah of course was absent through suspension as Evian drew 1-1 at Montpellier.

Elsewhere, Jordan Ayew lasted 80 minutes in Sochaux’s 0-2 loss at Lille that keeps them in 19 th spot on a paltry 15 points whereas John Boye was only a benchwarmer for Rennes who lost 1-3 at rock bottom, Ajaccio, only their second win all season long.
