Black Stars goalkeeper Fatau Dauda says he feels sorry for Senzo Meyiwa after replacing the injured Orlando Pirates goalkeeper in a 1-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Dauda has had to wait almost six months to make his competitive debut since his transfer from Ashgold and he took his chance after replacing Meyiwa in the 68th minute.
“I feel sorry that Meyiwa is injured but in life we get our opportunities differently. There were times when i I was asked why I was not pushing hard enough to get a game but I said when a goalkeeper is playing well you do not change him.Meyiwa is a great goalkeeper so I was waiting for my time. The same way he replaced a great goalkeeper after waiting for a long time ,maybe this is my time.”
Dauda also says finally getting a game puts his world cup plans into motion.
“Going into the world cup you need to be prepared because there are top class players coming and you need to be in the best condition. The PSL is a good league for me to improve myself before the World Cup in Brazil.”
