Ackah: Medeama don’t fear Don Bortey

Medeama SC say that the club does not fear Panthers FC’s Bernard Don Bortey, ahead of their clash on Sunday.

Medeama travel to battle it out with the Equatorial Guinean side for their CAF Confederations’ Cup first leg tie in Malabo.

Don Bortey is regarded as one of the best players to honour the Ghana Premier League, winning three League titles for Hearts as well as the maiden edition of the Confederations Cup for the Phobians in 2005.

Despite the 31-year-old’s insane experience in the continent’s club competition, Medeama Accra representative says that respect for the player, but no fear, because they have equally talented players to win in Malabo.

“We don’t fear Don Bortey. He is a good player but we have equally good players in our team,” Ackah told Asempa FM.“If they Don Bortey, then we also have Michael Helegbe, Kofi Agyare, Theophilus Anorbaah and co who are also great players and have experience in Africa.” Now we are focused and the team wants to do their best.”

Bortey played twenty-seven games for the Ghanaian national football team and scored nine times.

He also represented his homeland in the 1999 FIFA U-17 World Championship in New Zealand, where he played 6 games and scored 3 goals.

He joined Panthers FC in January this year.
