Preview: Ghanaian player abroad

Football weekends always come along with its optimism for football fans and players alike. Ghanaian players abroad will continue to stake their claim for a World cup spot as they go about their professional activities this weekend.

Michael Essien is on course to make his debut for AC Milan after transferring from English Premier League side Chelsea. Milan boss who branded Essien a Champion confirmed the Ghanaian could play a part when AC Milan travel to Napoli in the Italian Serie A on Saturday. Essien did not get the opportunity to come off the bench for his debut last weekend. Sulley Muntari will also be available for selection in the game after making an impressive appearance last weekend.

Jordan Ayew will continue to search for his first goal for Sochaux after transferring from Olympique Marseille in the French Ligue 1. The Ghanaian is likely to be handed another starting position when Sochaux play Lille away from home on Saturday.

Emmanuel Frimpong is suspended and will not play a part in Barnley’s game in the English Championship. The Ghanaian was sent off in his first game for a second bookable offence for Barnsley after transferring from Premier League leaders Arsenal on transfer deadline day. Barnsley entertain Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Jonathan Mensah will also miss Evian Thonon Gaillard’s game in the French Ligue 1 after a disciplinary committee handed the Black Stars defender a three-game ban .

Fulham’s Derek Boateng still remains an isolated figure at the London club and will only hope for an inclusion in the match-day squad for Sunday’s game. Fulham visit struggling Premier League Champions Manchester United at Old Trafford.
