Silverbird Weija, a new 3D cinema branch of the Silverbird Cinemas serving Ghanaians with a repertoire of blockbuster movies will officially open on Friday, February 7, 2014 with the premiere of Robocop in 3D.

Though the cinemas have been operating since the end of December 2013, the launch event will mark the official opening of the cinemas.

Mr. Albert Adomako Mensah, Director, Commercial and Special Projects for Global Media Alliance commented in an interview that ‘having operated in Ghana for the past five years from the Accra Mall, we decided to open a branch of the Silverbird cinemas at Weija so we could serve our customers who reside in and around Weija. Happily, they would be enjoying the unique 3D movie experience, which is the first of its kind in Ghana’.

He further added that ‘aside the cinemas, Silverbird Weija also has a lounge and Ghana’s first 9D Games arcade. We have designed our facilities to cater and deliver memorable experiences for individuals, families and corporate organizations’.

Commenting on the premiere of Robocob in 3D, Mr. Adomako Mensah said ‘Robocop is a 2014 American Science fiction action film and happens to be the remake of one of the best action movies in 1987. We are excited to be premiering this world-class movie in 3D as we officially open the Weija branch’.

The launch event is sponsored by Cocacola, Graham Beck Wines, Samsung and Starbite.

Set in the year 2028, Robocop is about a multinational conglomerate ‘OmniCorp’, which is at the center of robot technology. The company’s drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this controversial technology to the home front.
