Kumasi, Feb 5, GNA – The Progressive People’s Party (PPP), has entreated the electorate to vote massively for the party in the 2016 general election.
Mr. Alistair Tairo Nelson, Spokesperson for the National Youth Committee of the Party, said this was necessary since the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had ‘proven beyond all reasonable doubt that they had nothing good to offer the masses’.
He cited the high rate of youth unemployment and poverty, near collapse of the agricultural and energy sectors, incomprehensible educational and economic programmes, as well as high utility bills, witnessed under the administration of the two parties over the years, as some of the reasons that warrant their rejection in the next elections.
Speaking to the Ghana News agency (GNA) in Kumasi, Mr. Nelson indicated that the NPP and NDC had failed to deliver on their campaign promises, saying ‘Ghanaians should strive not to repeat mistakes of the past’.
‘For me, the PPP led by Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, ought to be given the needed chance since it had the potential to address development challenges of the nation to bring hope to the people’, he noted.
The party when given the mandate would implement an agenda for change built on four pillars – stewardship, education, healthcare and jobs.
Mr. Nelson stressed that the party intends to pursue this agenda with the active participation of the best human resource available in the country, and that a PPP government ‘will not be discriminatory, but ensure all-inclusive governance’.
The party would also be proactive in dealing with the drug trade and other crimes, curb corruption and ensure transparency and accountability in its endeavours.
Mr. Nelson said the party was strengthening its internal structures in order to enhance its chances as the party contest in the elections.
