Like three other African countries, Togo will be present as of Friday at the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. The “Land of our Forefathers’ will be represented by two athletes. Mathilde Amivi PetitJean in combined nordic and Alessia Dipol in slalom .
Dipole, born in Italy, has been appointed to carry the Togolese flag during the opening ceremony of the Games.
It’s Thursday that the Togolese delegation, composed of the President of the Togolese National Olympic Committee (CNOT) and officials of the Togolese Federation sun and ski (FTSGS), is expected in Sochi.
“Representing a nation in an international event is not a first for me because I have participated in the Olympic Festival of European Youth (OJ Youth in Europe) in 2011 for France. It was a pride and represent Togo today at the Olympics in Sochi will be much more exciting given the importance of the event for me and for all Togolese,” revealed Amivi PetitJean in a large interview to AfricaTop Sports.
