DEEP-SEATED CRACKS and controversies have started emerging amongst the rank and file of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region, ahead of the party’s congress to elect regional executives.
With reports of intense lobbying and underground maneuvering by some top ranking public and party officials to secure slots for their favourite candidates, the Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer of the party, Kwaku Boahen, has fired salvo against the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Joseph Yamin, accusing him of working desperately to unseat hm.
Kwaku Boahen took the Deputy Youth and Sports Minister to the cleaners, virtually insulting his integrity and questioning his loyalty to the ruling NDC.
The NDC Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer swore heaven and earth to expose the Deputy Minister and reveal his true identity if he does not desist from supporting a candidate against him.
‘You, Yamin, today you have the guts to campaign against me; we shall see. You just wait and see what will happen,’ an angry Kwaku Boahen busted on Fox FM , a local radio station.
Hon. Yamin is said to have openly declared support for Brogya Genfi, a Member of the NDC Communication Team, who has declared his intention to contest for the position in the upcoming congress.
The Deputy Minister, according to reports, has been going round campaigning for Brogya Genfi, calling on delegates to vote against Kwaku Boahen.
Using unprintable words to describe the Deputy Minister, Kwaku Boahen said he would tell the whole world how Yamin and his cohorts, including Brogya Genfi, worked tirelessly to unseat the NDC in the run up to the 2012 elections.
The desperate NDC youth organizer allegedly recounted how the Deputy Minister, in collaboration with Brogya Genfi and others, formed the Friends of Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings(FONKAR), using the pressure group to embark on a smear campaign against the late President John Evans Atta Mills.
Kwaku Boahen further revealed how the Deputy Minister desperately sought their intervention to beg President John Mahama for the post. ‘He was virtually on his kneels begging all of us to intervene for him; now he thinks he has power so he can do whatever he likes, we shall see,’ he noted.
The Youth Organizer further alleged that the Deputy Minister has been going round collecting monies from people with the promise that he would facilitate their trip to Brazil for the FIFA World Cup coming up in June this year.
However, when the Deputy Minister was contacted via telephone for his reaction on the allegations leveled against him by the NDC Regional youth organizer, Hon. Yamin politely declined to comment, saying ‘Kwaku Boahen is not worth replying to, and so I have nothing to say.’
