Congolese giants TP Mazembe have set sights on Asante Kotoko central defender Samuel Abeiku Ainooson as a possible replacement for departed Stopilla Sunzu, GHANASPORTS can exclusively reveal.
The 4 time African champions look to booster their squad ahead of their CAF champions league campaign and the Multi Millionaire owner Moise Katumbi seeks to bring in 2 new recruits.
The DRC league champions are in the market for one defender and a midfileder as replacements for departed Zambians Stopilla Sunzu and Nathan Sinkala who both joined French side FC Sochaux.
A source close to Asante Kotoko told GHANASPORTSONLINE “We have received a call from Mazembe and they have expressed interest in our defender Abeiku Ainooson after his performance at the CHAN tournament”.
“We are also in African now so the management havent sat down to decide on it yet but am sure they (TP Mazembe) will send an official bid for the player soon”.
“I understand they are quoting figures around $450,000 but that has not been official yet so we await the official bid and decide whether to accept of otherwise”.
“Their owner wants to sign Abeiku as a replacement for their central defender who left the club, thats what they told us and so we are waiting for the next step” The source added.
