Stop Discussing Party Matters In Public

Yaw Buaben Asamoah, a forerunner in the New Patriotic Party’s general secretary race has again clinched a lot of respect from Party faithfuls after his utterances on Oman FM’s popular morning show, National Agenda.

In his brief interview with the host, he demonstrated to the general public the reasons why he is the perfect man for the position and why most delegates would vote for him at the delegates’ conference.

YB, as he’s popularly known as, was interviewed on Oman FM regarding the current debate on the venue for the National Delegates Conference. It was recently in the news that the National Chairman and General Secretary of the party had disclosed to the public that the Party was broke and could not afford a centralized delegates’ conference as it had been done previously.

When asked by the host, what he meant by “there is too much noise”, Mr. Buaben Asamoah explained that members of the Party ought to learn to keep issues indoors. He expressed worry that some statements about the Party’s affairs had been put in the public domain. He stressed that with a change in leadership these can be put to bed. Because when issues are discussed publicly, it affects the credibility of the Party.

According to YB, “we don’t have to put our disagreements in public. As a leader, you do not engage in public discourse on an issue facing the party. But once it gets decided behind closed doors, you accept it as the collective decision of the Party and put it into effect.”

YB, who is said to have developed a mathematical matrix of what constitutes unity (Unity = Self Interest + Compromise + Commitment to Victory) urged all members to accept and obey whatever decision the National Council comes out with after today’s meeting.

The renowned lawyer is in contention for the New Patriotic Party’s General Secretary position. He faces a tough opposition from the incumbent Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie (Sir John), a youthful Kwabena Agyepong and Captain Nkrabeah Effah Darteh.
