Members of the Parliamentary Committee on Works and Housing are to visit the demolished site at Adjei Kojo to ascertain the extent of the demolition and interact with the affected landlords so as to take informed decision on the case.
Over hundreds of houses were pulled down by a combined team of the police and the military a few weeks ago at the behest of the Tema Development Corporation.
The exercise rendered about eight hundred people homeless. The decision by the Committee to visit the site follows a meeting with the management of TDC over the issue in Parliament.
Speaking in an interview with Radio Ghana the Vice Chairman of the Works and Housing Committee and MP for Prestea Huni-Valley Francis Adu-Blay Koffie said the MPs were moved when they saw and hear about the demolition exercise in the media.
Mr. Adu-Blay Koffie said the Committee’s initial reaction was that the TDC should have given the exercise a human face. He however failed to say the possible actions the House will be taking to bring closure to the case.
