Assoc. of Armed Robbers Are A “Bunch Of Useless Criminals” – Kweku Baako

“If indeed that group exist; then they are not serious…they cannot be serious armed robbers because how can you advertise yourself; giving addresses and where monies should be deposited…ain’t you giving yourself away?”

Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper has questioned the seriousness of an armed robbery syndicate: ‘Armed Robbers Association of Ghana’ (ARA) to write a letter to their intended victims.

The armed robbers gave residents of Agape, a suburb of Accra a deadline of December 30, 2013 to pay not less than GH¢500 per tenant in each household to avoid being robbed.

They wrote the letter and posted them on walls, gates, electricity poles and other places, directing the residents to pay the said amount through MTN mobile money; 0544133436.

Discussing the issue on Peace FM’s morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, Kweku Baako described the letter as “an insult to our intelligence” and indicated that if the gang were into serious business, they would not have given themselves away by declaring their intention.

According to him, serious armed robbers who want to form such an association will not have such a modus operandi, adding; ‘this is so infantile that it doesn’t make me take them serious’

“As far as I am concerned they are not serious. If they were this is not how to go about it. They are a bunch of jokers who are so infantile and if indeed they are criminals then they are a bunch of useless criminals,” he stated.

Kweku Baako has however advised the Police Service not to underrate the content of the letter and where it came from. He said “it will be totally unprofessional if the police neglect this and not give it the seriousness it deserves”.
