PNC Group Threatens Party Leaders Over Missing GHC1.6m

A group in the People’s National Convention (PNC) called the Convention Forum is threatening to throw out the leadership of the party at its next national congress if the leaders fail to “retrieve a whooping sum of GHC 1.6million campaign funds donated to the party in the 2012 general elections.”

Below is the full statement

We wish to write and bring to the notice of all party sympathizers and Ghanaians in general stating our pain and regret following the failure of our party’s leadership to retrieve a whooping sum of GHC 1.6million campaign funds donated to the party in the 2012 general elections.

The money was supposed to be used for among other things such as payment of party polling agents, procurement of motorbikes, printing of party posters and other forms of logistics to help the party in the elections.

However as we speak, many polling agents who served for the party at various polling stations since December 2012 are still demanding their monies and allowances since they were never paid up till to date. The motor bikes for the campaign were also never procured.

The party is currently in financial distress and needs money to organize its polling station, constituency and regional elections.

As members of the CONVENTION FORUM of the PNC, we express our disappointment in the leadership of the party for failing to chase those missing monies especially at a time the party needs financial support and assistance to run its internal activities and affairs.

We are therefore calling and appealing to the leadership of the party to quickly commission an independent enquiry or investigation into the matter or risk being thrown out of office by delegates at the party’s’ next congress.
