Minister Orders Suspension Of Health Project

Mr. Paul Evans Aidoo, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, has ordered the suspension of work on a health facility in the Region.

He directed the temporary halt of work on upgrading Community Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound to a health centre at Nkasiem in the Asutifi South District due to shoddy job being done by Sabee Construction Limited, a Sunyani-based building company.

Mr. Aidoo gave the order on Friday as part of his three-day working visit to three Assemblies, Asunafo South District, Asunafo North Municipality and Asutifi South.

The Regional Minister therefore instructed Mr. Modestu Newosu, District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area to direct the contractor to report to him at the Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC) in Sunyani immediately.

Later in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Nana Asumadu Sakyi, Chief of the town, said the Traditional Council and some opinion leaders of the town had been drawing the attention of the contractor to that disservice being done to the community but all their advice were ignored.

The Regional Minister’s separate visits to the three Assemblies was to afford him the opportunity to assess how best the Assemblies utilized funds disbursed to them, particularly in 2013 by the Central Government for development projects.
