K’Bu Board To Be Dissolved

Intelligence gathered from the ministry of health by Today indicates that President John Dramani Mahama has prepared a fresh list of board members for the nation’s premier hospital, Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH).

According to our sources, all the presidential appointees of Korle-Bu board including Eddie Annan, Rev Okpoti Botwe, Mrs. Kumah, and Godfred Ahianyo will be axed from the board.

Today gathered that the fate of the current board of the hospital under the chairmanship of Mr. Eddie Annan is hanging in the balance.

The sources told this paper that the president’s new list of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital board members was forwarded to the ministry of health for action to be taken.

Sources close to the ministry of health further revealed that last week it officially wrote to the Korle-Bu board, instructing it to identify and nominate new directors of the various departments to be appointed to the new board members.

The decision, Today gathered, was taken at the hierarchy of the nation’s governance and policy direction led by the president after Mr. Annan was heard on Joy FM last week in an interview on issues relating to the running of the hospital.

In that interview, Mr. Annan created the impression as though things were smooth with the hospital as far as management of its activities was concerned.

Mr. Annan claims on Joy FM are against the realities of alleged mismanagement, corruption and abuse of power which have been consistently reported in the media for the past three years.

And this has necessitated President Dramani Mahama’s determination to change the entire board led by Mr. Annan.

Today also gathered that almost the entire board members are unhappy with the news that they are going to be sacked.

When this paper reached one of the board members and chairman of a 4-member Committee on Auditing of Director’s Performances, Mr. Godfred Ahianyo, he denied knowledge of the president’s intended decision to relieve them off their duties, saying…..

“My friend, I just spoke to our Chairman, Eddie Annan, about five minutes ago on how we will be able to run the hospital, so this news just came to me as a surprise. My friend, can you make available the list of newly appointed board members to us,?” Mr. Ahianyo asked.

But attempts to reach Mr. Eddie Annan to respond to this new development proved futile as numerous calls and text messages placed on his phone remained unanswered.
