Barnsley head coach Danny Wilson has jumped into the defence of his new signing despite the player receiving a wide range of condemnation for his red card against Sheffield Wednesday
“I think there needed to be more understanding from the referee. Emmanuel Frimpong has come into a big derby game, 25,000 plus in the stands and maybe he could have had a warning and told to calm down rather than be shown the second yellow card,” Barnsley’s official website quotes Wilson as saying.
Emmanuel Frimpong was sent off 30 minutes into the game in which Barnsley lost 0-1 to Sheffield.
Frimpong’s red card in his debut for Barnsley was a big blow as coach Wilson banged his hope in his new signing to help reverse the fortunes of the club.
