First Capital Plus, an indigenous Financial Company with fifteen branches across the country has unveiled a $10million Sponsorship package for the Ghana Premier League for a period of 5 years.
The event was witnessed by the crème de la crème in the Ghanaian football fraternity as well as the leadership of the Professional League Board and the Ghana League Clubs Association as well as the Minister for Youth and Sports Elvis Afriyie Ankrah.
GFA president Kwesi Nyantekyi who received the cheque on behalf of the Association could not hide his joy about the development as he believes this would go a long way into alleviating the financial pressures being faced by the local clubs
“We are very delighted about this relationship. Ghanaians are very passionate about football and anyone who decides to sponsor football is sponsoring the passion of the nation.First Capital Plus has come at the right time. It has come at a time the premier league has SuperSport as its media sponsor. We will abide by the terms of the contract.”
The Chief Executive Officer of the First Capital Plus John Kofi Mensah believes the agreement with the Ghana Football Association would develop into a mutually beneficial one that may stand the test of time.
“We will come up with innovative products for players and the Clubs and collaborate with the FA, PLB to develop holistic strategies to make our league one of the most attractive leagues in Africa and in the world. We are proud to sponsor the beautiful game of football, a sport that unifies the nation. I hope this sponsorship will help Ghana unearth players who can win the next CHAN.”
The sponsorship of the Premier League will commence from the 2014-15 football season.
The Ghana Premier League which went on a break for the CHAN would resume on Wednesday 5th February, 2014 with all elite clubs pledging to offer the financial institution the much needed brand mileage.
