The Affluent In NPP Are Above The Party’s Laws

A member of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication machinery, Godwin Ako Gunn has described the loud silence of the Disciplinary Committee of the opposition NPP over Hon. Ken Agyapong’s verbal attack on the party’s Executives as selective justice which portrays the party to be in favor of the highest bidder.

The Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP), Ken Agyapong, threatened to establish his own political party with an amount of $20 million if the current national executives of the NPP are re-elected. The self-acclaim NPP financier described the current Executives as corrupt and thieves who embezzled monies and items meant for the party’s campaign in 2012 election.

Speaking to the likely implosion of the NPP, the NDC communicator stated that the NPP’s challenges stem from the failure of the Disciplinary Committee to stamp its authority and take action against members who err.

“…nobody is bigger than the party he belongs to, but if it does not assert its authority, the people who constitute the party will grow to be bigger than the party. This is the level NPP has reached as it has failed to deal with offending members equally,” he averred on Okay Fm’s “Ghana Decides” program.

To buttress his point, Godwin Gunn slammed the NPP’s Disciplinary Committee for looking on unconcerned whiles Ken. Agyapong consistently abused the party’s National Chairman.
He also alluded to the selective justice meted out to Dr Wereko-Brobbey, a Founding Member of the party, Dr Kobina Arthur Kennedy, one-time presidential aspirant and Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, another founding member of the party and opined that for the wrangling in the opposition party to cease, the NPP must pick up its disciplinary whip and flog errant members, irrespective of status, into line.

“…..when you look at it this way, it looks as if NPP does not respect the doctors in the party or the highest financier is above the party’s orders. This is what those of us outside of NPP think of the situation; we believe NPP now is for the highest bidder…..those who can pay huge amount of money in the party are accorded more respected,” he asserted.
