Ghana midfielder Bernard Yao Kumordzi is relieved by Genk’s 2-0 win over Mechelen on Saturday which ends his club’s woeful seven-game win-less run.
The 28-year-old saw 71 minutes of action to help his side to the long-overdue win at Mechelen.
Genk had endured a seven-game winless run which include their defeat in the cup to KV Oostende.
The Ghana midfielder is delighted with the weekend’s result and hopes it marks the start of a positive turnaround in the fortunes of the club.
“This win is nice . It had been two months since we won a game, this feels good,” Kumordzi said.
“We deserved this victory . The big difference with the previous weeks was that we were looking for the simple solution and that there was a lot of movement without the ball.
“Actually, everything went according to plan.
“I think we have now gone back [to winning ways].
“The last two games we played not bad but we failed to utilize our chances. But I hope we can put down a series again.”
